Solana-based DeFi protocol Drift has launched a reward points program called Drift Points for traders and market makers. The program aims to quantify and recognize participants' contributions and loyalty to Drift.

Drift has completed a historical user snapshot to ensure that loyal users who joined the platform before the launch of the points program are recognized for their ongoing commitment. The first weekly points distribution will take place on February 2, 2024.

According to The Block, Drift co-founder Cindy Leow stated that the Drift token is expected to be launched "soon" after the end of the points program in March. She declined to comment on how the Drift token will be airdropped to users based on Drift points, but stated that "there will be a relationship between the two."
