Captain Tsubasa NFT soccer game debuts on Oasys blockchain
Japanese manga and anime series Captain Tsubasa has launched its nonfungible token (NFT) soccer game on the Oasys blockchain, a platform focused on Web3 gaming.
On May 20, Oaysis announced that Captain Tsubasa, a popular 80s manga and anime written and illustrated by Japanese author Yōichi Takahashi, is releasing a version of the NFT soccer game on its Web3 gaming blockchain.
The Web3 game, created by Web3 development platforms Mint Town and Blocksmith, was first revealed in 2022 and officially launched on Jan. 12, 2023. The project also released its governance token on June 4, 2023.
The game allows players to collect NFTs of characters from the original animated series. It allows gamers to develop characters, form teams and play in different modes within the game.
The Rival mode allows players to revisit the original storyline, while a player-versus-player (PvP) mode lets gamers play against other online players. In addition, the game also features an Arena mode where gamers can play in 11 versus 11 soccer matches.

The manga series was first published in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1981 and was adapted into an anime series in 1983.
It was followed by many movies and television adaptations, with the latest airing in 2018. By 2023, the series had sold 90 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series ever.
To commemorate the game’s launch on Oasys, its Genesis NFTs will include additional features, such as increasing players’ energy points.
