Pantera Capital invests in Animoca’s GAMEE
Pantera Capital has made a strategic investment in GAMEE (CRYPTO:GMEE), a subsidiary of Animoca Brands and a key player in the blockchain gaming industry.
This investment is aimed at bolstering GAMEE’s expansion within The Open Network (TON) ecosystem through its popular Telegram Mini App game, WatBird.
GAMEE, known for its web3 gaming platform with over 90 million registered users, has developed WatBird as a means to introduce Telegram users to the world of Web3 through engaging and meme-inspired gameplay.
The integration of WatBird with TON has already seen significant traction, with over 4 million users linking their TON Wallets to the game.
Animoca Brands, a leading figure in the gaming industry, announced the investment, highlighting that the funds from Pantera Capital will be used to further GAMEE’s presence on TON.
This aligns with GAMEE’s broader goal of enhancing its footprint within the TON ecosystem and leveraging Telegram’s extensive user base to facilitate mainstream adoption of blockchain technology.
Pantera Capital, managing over $5 billion in assets, has a history of focusing exclusively on blockchain investments.
Their support for GAMEE underscores their confidence in the potential of Web3 gaming and its role in driving blockchain adoption.
Cosmo Jiang, portfolio manager at Pantera, expressed enthusiasm for GAMEE’s progress within the TON ecosystem, emphasizing the company’s ability to attract and engage users through its Telegram Mini App games.
The investment comes at a time when venture capital support in the blockchain space is increasingly scrutinized.
While GAMEE has embraced external funding to scale its operations, other projects on the TON blockchain, like Hamster Kombat, have taken a different approach.
Hamster Kombat has rejected venture capital funding to protect its users’ interests, reflecting concerns that VCs may prioritize exit strategies over the long-term success of projects.
Pantera Capital’s investment in GAMEE highlights the ongoing interest among VCs in high-growth startups, particularly those with strong potential for scaling within the blockchain ecosystem.
As Web3 continues to evolve, the partnership between Pantera and GAMEE could serve as a key driver in expanding blockchain adoption through innovative gaming experiences on platforms like Telegram.
At the time of reporting, the GAMEE price was $0.02003.
