Airdrops Don't Always Meet Expectations: Most Successful and Least Successful Altcoin Airdrops Revealed!
According to Keyrock research, 88% of altcoins released via airdrops this year have seen their prices drop, with most collapsing within 15 days.
While altcoin airdrops are closely followed by investors, striking results have emerged in a new research by cryptocurrency market maker Keyrock.
According to Keyrock research, 88% of altcoins released via airdrops this year have seen their prices drop, with most collapsing within 15 days.
Of the 62 altcoin airdrops analyzed by Keyrock, only 8 yielded positive returns after 90 days, with 4 of them being Ethereum-based and 4 being Solana-based.
“Most of the price movements occur in the first days after the airdrop. Three months after the airdrop, very few tokens manage to achieve a positive outcome and return, and only a handful of tokens buck this downward trend,” the report said.
Despite the negative assessment of the performance of airdrops, not every project fails. Noting that altcoins with high FDV have a high chance, Keyrock wrote:
“Contrary to popular belief, airdrops do not always lead to dumps. A token with a 70% airdrop allocation saw positive gains, highlighting the greater importance of FDV management.
At this point, tokens launched with high FDV experienced the biggest price drops. The success was Solana-based altcoin Drift (DRIFT), which launched with only $56 million but achieved great success. However, the failure was ZKLend, which dropped 95% in value.
Losers and Winners in Airdrop!
Keyrock's research also identified the most and least successful airdrops.
While Solana trading platform Drift has been the most successful airdrop here, DRIFT is currently trading at almost three times its launch value.
According to Keyrock research, other airdrops based on Solana (SOL) have also performed well.
At this point, Keyrock said that Solana is the leader as the best network for airdrops in 2024, and tokens such as WEN and JUP are among the successful projects.
Stating that ZkLend is the least successful altcoin airdrop project, Keyrock said that the ZEND token has fallen by 95% from its launch price.
