Chainlink to upgrade its architecture, reorganize into a modular development platform and introduce a new runtime environment
On October 30th, Chainlink announced a major upgrade to their platform, restructuring the core functionality of their oracle network into a modular developer platform. This will allow developers to integrate it into their workflow in any way they choose, and run it through a new Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) based on a system of DON functionality, DON-to-DON communication, function orchestration, and code execution. The workflow will run using an appropriate consensus model. The Chainlink Platform will be rolled out in phases to ensure that existing users of Chainlink services are not affected throughout the entire transition process. The initial phase involves transitioning Chainlink services such as CCIP to the upgraded platform architecture.
