Tether Ends Support for Euro-Pegged Stablecoin EURT

Company Tether , the issuer of USDT, the world's largest stablecoin by market cap, is ending support for euro-pegged EURT and asking users to redeem their holdings within a year.

In his statement Tether called on customers holding EURT on all supported blockchains, including Ethereum , Solana и Tron , buy back their assets by November 27, 2025. New requests for issuing the stablecoin are no longer accepted. Interestingly, the last issuance request was processed in 2022.

This decision is in line with our broader strategic direction, given the evolving regulatory framework governing stablecoins in the European market.

 

Until a more risk-resilient system emerges that fosters innovation and provides the stability and protection our users deserve, we have decided to prioritize other initiatives, the company said. Tether .

At the time of writing, the market cap of EURT was $27 million, which is only 0,02% of the USDT market cap.

Solution Tether The discontinuation of EURT is in line with the new requirements of the European Markets in Cryptoassets Regulation (MiCA), which is expected to come into full force by the end of 2024.

It is known that Tether will continue to support new stablecoin projects that comply with MiCA requirements, including the EURQ and USDQ stablecoins from Dutch fintech company Quantoz Payments.
