Pi Network issues safety alerts as 14M users verified
The Pi Network (CRYPTO:PI) team has issued key warnings to its users, urging them to remain cautious and rely solely on official channels and tools.
In its latest advisory, the team emphasised the importance of using only the authentic Pi Wallet through the Pi Browser.
“Ensure you’re in the correct Pi Wallet, not any fake one, to safeguard your Pi. The authentic Pi Wallet is also visually identified by a purple color in the navigation bar of the Pi Browser with a Pi logo featuring the Core Team apps logo,” the team warned.
The developers also provided a dedicated safety page featuring verified URL links to help users avoid fraudulent activities.
Such alerts are critical as projects with large user bases, like Pi Network, often attract scammers.
Pi Network has gained significant popularity, with its application surpassing 100 million downloads worldwide.
The project has a strong user base across Asia, particularly in China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and India.
According to Wu Blockchain, Pi Network has over 1.34 million users in South Korea alone, a number that surpasses the local user bases of major exchanges such as Binance and Coinbase.
Only domestic platforms Upbit and Bithumb have more users, with 4.36 million and 2.24 million, respectively.
Despite its vast growth, Pi Network has faced persistent scepticism.
The network, now over five years old, has yet to launch its native token and mainnet, prompting some critics to label it a scam.
The team previously stated that the open network would launch once 15 million users complete the required verification.
With 14 million already verified, the team aims to achieve this milestone by December 31.
Additionally, the Pi Core Team has promised to release the mainnet open roadmap this month, which may provide a clearer timeline for the token’s launch.
The coming weeks will determine if Pi Network fulfills its promises or if doubts surrounding the project will intensify.
At the time of reporting, the price of Pi Network (PI) was $56.16.
