Ethiopia uses surplus hydroelectric power from the Renaissance Dam to promote Bitcoin mining, generating revenue of $1 billion last year, accounting for 18% of its electricity revenue. The country has successfully transformed surplus hydropower into profitable assets, attracting many global investors and promoting sustainable energy growth in Africa through low energy costs.
