I. Project introduction
Hive is a decentralized blockchain ecosystem that relies on the Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) protocol to provide high-performance technical support for Web 3.0 application scenarios. It features zero-cost transactions within three seconds and is tailored for content creators, developers, and investors worldwide. By supporting massive data storage and monetization in the time dimension, Hive achieves unprecedented flexibility in technology and application, providing a feasible solution for the large-scale popularization of blockchain.
Hive's uniqueness is also reflected in its community-driven genes. As an independent chain forked from the Steem blockchain, Hive has freed itself from the shackles of traditional centralized power and achieved a balance between user autonomy and platform development through true decentralization. After years of ecological evolution, Hive has gathered numerous decentralized applications (dApps), rich content creation scenarios, and diverse communities, making it a representative of continuous innovation in the blockchain field.
At the design level, Hive focuses on efficiency and user-friendliness. Through the resource credit mechanism, users can complete operations without paying transaction fees; while for developers, Hive's multi-layer structure supports rapid integration and expansion. This makes Hive a blockchain platform with both technical depth and practical application potential, capable of meeting the needs of different client bases and industries.
II. Project highlights
1. Zero-cost transactions, low-threshold access
One of the biggest advantages of Hive is that it does not have the common transaction fees of traditional blockchains. Users can obtain resource credit by staking Hive Power, allowing each transaction to proceed smoothly in a zero-cost environment. This innovation not only lowers the threshold for users to enter, but also allows developers to focus more on ecological construction without worrying about transaction costs.
2. Three-second transaction confirmation, fast and efficient
The transaction confirmation time is extremely short, only taking three seconds to complete the transaction, ensuring a seamless user experience. This is undoubtedly a huge advantage for applications that require quick response, whether it is a social platform or a gaming application, smooth operation can be achieved on Hive.
3. Two-way incentives for content creation and consumption
Hive provides a unique mechanism that benefits both content creators and consumers. Through the Proof-of-Brain (PoB) mechanism, creators can receive rewards for publishing high-quality content, and users who participate in voting and content discovery can also share the value of the platform. This interactive reward mechanism provides more incentives for content creators and also brings a higher sense of participation to users.
4. Strong ecological scalability
Hive supports large-scale applications and data storage with its excellent performance. The platform not only provides infrastructure for decentralized applications, but also maintains high flexibility in design, allowing different types of projects to quickly land on Hive. Whether it is applications that require high concurrency or the needs of long-tail users, Hive can provide corresponding solutions.
III. Market value expectations
HIVE is the core token of the Hive blockchain platform, with a current unit price of $0.5692, a circulating market value of about $264 million, and a fully diluted market value of about $285 million. The circulating amount is 464 million HIVE, and the total supply is 501 million HIVE.
To evaluate the market potential of HIVE, we selected the following benchmark projects for comparison: Solana ($SOL), Conflux ($CFX), and Hedera ($HBAR).
Benchmarking project
1. High-performance underlying blockchain: Solana ($SOL)
Unit price: 196.85 USD
Market capitalization: 95.514 billion USD
Fully diluted market value: $116.622 billion
Circulation: 484 million pieces
Total supply: 592 million pieces
2. High-performance Layer 1 blockchain: Conflux ($CFX)
Unit price: 0.154 USD
Market capitalization: 746 million USD
Fully diluted market cap: $865 million
Circulation: 4.821 billion pieces
Total supply: 5.581 billion pieces
3. Decentralized public blockchain: Hedera ($HBAR)
Unit price: 0.28 USD
Market capitalization: 10.84 billion USD
Fully diluted market cap: $14.167 billion
Circulation: 38.257 billion pieces
Total supply: 50 billion pieces
Market value comparison with expectations
1. Benchmarking Solana ($SOL)
If the circulating market value of HIVE reaches the level of Solana ($95.514 billion), the unit price of HIVE will rise to about $205.92, an increase of about 362 times.
2. Benchmarking Conflux ($CFX)
If the circulating market value of HIVE reaches the level of Conflux (746 million USD), the unit price of HIVE will rise to about 1.61 USD, an increase of about 2.83 times.
3. Benchmarking Hedera ($HBAR)
If the circulating market value of HIVE reaches the level of Hedera ($10.84 billion), the unit price of HIVE will rise to about $23.39, an increase of about 41 times.
IV. Token Economics
HIVE is an inflationary cryptocurrency, which means there are currently no rules restricting the supply of HIVE coins.
Token distribution
The new HIVE generated by inflation is released as planned and distributed as follows:
65% is split equally between content creators and content curators (those who actively participate in content through likes, comments, and sharing)
15% given to HP stakers
10% for witnesses
10% is deposited into the decentralized Hive Fund, which is the network's treasury used to fund community proposals
The inflation rate of HIVE is about 7.5% per year, and the inflation rate decreases by 0.01% per 250,000 blocks. On an annual basis, it will decrease by 0.5%, and the decrease will eventually stop at 0.95%. According to the Hive white paper, HIVE inflation refers to the reward system. Although most investors believe that inflation is not a good thing, it is highly encouraged to re-pledge HIVE rewards in the Hive ecosystem.
V. Team and financing
According to the content of the white paper, Hive's team information does not explicitly list specific members or roles. Compared to traditional projects, Hive emphasizes its decentralized nature, and the team exists more in the form of a decentralized community and contributors, rather than a single centralized team operation.
In March 2024, Hive announced the completion of $13 million Series A financing, led by SC Ventures (the venture capital arm of Standard Chartered), with participation from OneRagtime and other investment institutions. The financing will mainly be used to promote the construction of decentralized cloud service infrastructure. Hive is committed to providing a distributed and decentralized cloud model by integrating unused personal device hard drives and computing power.
VI. Risk Warning
1. Although Hive offers zero-fee transactions within three seconds, it may face network congestion or performance degradation when the number of users or transactions increases significantly. The decentralized DPoS consensus mechanism may affect efficiency under high load conditions, especially when the number and distribution of node participants are uneven.
2. Hive's resource credit mechanism relies on the staking of HIVE Power, but in the case of high transaction frequency and large demand, the quota may not be enough to meet the operation needs of all users, thus limiting User Experience.
