Boerse Stuttgart Receives EU-wide MiCA License
Boerse Stuttgart, through its subsidiary, became the first fully licensed cryptocurrency services provider (CASP) in Germany under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.
Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody, a subsidiary of Boerse Stuttgart Group, received an EU-wide license to offer crypto services. The company plans to serve as a regulated provider of crypto infrastructure for banks, brokers, and asset managers.
The license was granted by Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). This licensing allows the company to scale its services and expand its international presence in the digital assets space. The management plans to develop integrated solutions for institutional clients, focusing on further growth and internationalization of the business.
Matthias Voelkel, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart Group, stated in the press release that the license will serve as the foundation for accelerating the structural growth of the digital asset division and improve access for European financial institutions to the cryptocurrency market.
MiCA officially came into effect on December 30, 2024. However, the digital assets space in Germany was already developing prior to that. In June 2024, residents of the country were able to make instant incoming and outgoing payments using digital assets stored on the Bitpanda platform via IBAN accounts at Deutsche Bank.
