Ethereum developers call for faster development, suggest moving roadmap update to early 2026

On January 21st, according to Bitcoin.com, concerns about the development speed of the Ethereum ecosystem are increasing. Jesse Pollak, the head of Base (Bitcoin's second-layer network), criticized Ethereum's current roadmap as too conservative and called for the scheduled 2027 update plan to be moved up to early 2026. Dankrad Feist, a developer at the Ethereum Foundation, also holds a similar view, stating that the current growth plan "lacks ambition" and pointing out problems with the existing upgrade process. Feist also questions the view that scaling can only be achieved on second-layer networks, emphasizing that large-scale scaling of the Ethereum base layer is feasible.
