Trump announces $500 billion private-led AI infrastructure investment called "Stargate"
US President Donald Trump has unveiled a $500 billion private-led investment called "Stargate" to build AI data centers across the country. The project's initial equity funders are OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, and it aims to create over 100,000 American jobs. The Stargate data centers are already being built in Oracle's Abilene, Texas facility, and the remaining $400 billion will be distributed over the next four years. The project aims to keep AI innovation in the country and improve healthcare plans, among other applications. OpenAI hopes Stargate will push progress for artificial general intelligence.
