Donald Trump May Be Sued Over Launch of TRUMP Memcoin

Experts from Fortune сообщили that President Donald Trump may be sued over the launch of the OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP) memecoin.

Donald Trump announced the launch of the memecoin on January 18, 2025, shortly before the inauguration. The project gained popularity in the community, although a number of experts criticized the decision of the US President.

It is worth recalling that past US presidents have tried to avoid conflicts of interest by leaving their own businesses in charge and transferring them to blind trusts.

Back in 2017, the nonprofit Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a lawsuit. Trump was accused of violating the constitution by accepting gratuities from foreign governments through bookings in his hotels, renting buildings, and leasing businesses abroad. However, the Supreme Court later rejected the lawsuit.

CREW Vice President Jordan Liebowitz said Trump's actions are within the law but unethical and could reignite debate over the U.S. Constitution's "emoluments" clause from foreign governments.

At the moment, representatives of the organization are studying the issue related to the launch of the OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP) memcoin, and may indeed file a lawsuit in the future.
