Elon Musk says his D.O.G.E will be cutting $4B daily in US govt spending until September

Mr. Elon Musk, who is now basically Washington’s Lara Croft, has announced today that he plans to cut $4 billion from the US government’s budget every single day from now until September 30 as part of his mission at the infamous Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E).

Via a post on X (which is the only way Elon communicates with the public now for the sake of total transparency), the eccentric billionaire explained that the cuts are part of a larger plan to reduce the federal deficit for fiscal year 2026 from $2 trillion down to $1 trillion.

The Tesla CEO and self-proclaimed efficiency freak explained that even with a $1 trillion deficit, economic growth could bridge the gap and keep inflation at bay by 2026. “Super big deal,” Elon called it, pointing out that America’s debt is already sitting at a mind-numbing $36.6 trillion right now.

Elon genuinely believes that inflation is caused solely by government spending and wants the American public to allow him the chance to prove that to them.

D.O.G.E wipes out $1B in contracts, targets bloated government spending

Elon’s D.O.G.E team has already canceled over $1 billion in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility contracts, calling them wasteful products of what he described as “insane hiring practices” under the Biden administration.

According to Elon, these contracts weren’t just expensive—they were dangerous. His words: “They endangered the public.” The Biden-era contracts covered nearly every corner of the federal government, including departments handling defense, labor, and health.

Now the contracts have been terminated across major agencies like the Department of Defense, Department of Education, Treasury, and Agriculture. The Environmental Protection Agency, Commerce Department, and even smaller agencies like the Bureau of Land Management and the Railroad Retirement Board were also targeted.

The cancellations alone are estimated to have saved taxpayers $1 billion, but that’s just the warm-up, according to the Doge Master.

“Through January 29, 85 DEIA-related contracts totaling ~$1B have been terminated,” D.O.G.E posted on its official X account. Elon’s team claimed many of these contracts were part of Biden’s diversity-driven hiring policies that prioritized social agendas over competency.

On Jan. 29 when the Fed decided not to cut rates again despite Trump telling them to, he publicly slammed them, blaming DEI and chairman Powell for inflation. In his words:

“The Fed has done a terrible job on Bank Regulation. My Treasury Secretary Scott is going to lead the effort to cut unnecessary Regulation, and will unleash lending for all American people and businesses. If the Fed had spent less time on DEI, gender ideology, ‘green’ energy, and fake climate change, Inflation would never have been a problem. Instead, we suffered from the worst Inflation in the History of our Country!”

This isn’t the first time Elon has taken a hard line on workplace policies. His Tesla factories are known for their brutal work schedules, and now federal workers are getting a taste of that same approach.

An email from the Trump administration, reportedly sent last Tuesday, gave government employees until February 6 to either take an eight-month buyout or return to the office five days a week. Elon has said time and time again since COVID-19 that he despises remote work.

The email, titled “Fork in the Road,” looked eerily and hilariously similar to Elon’s past messages to employees at Tesla and Twitter during massive layoffs. Elon’s D.O.G.E is being enforced despite lacking actual congressional approval. Legal battles are likely, but Elon doesn’t care one bit. In fact, he mocks the Union workers who are threatening him. Yeah this guy’s a menace.

Now Wired reported yesterday that Elon has even been sleeping at D.O.G.E headquarters, pulling overnight shifts at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. He told people he’s been invited to crash in the Lincoln Bedroom at the White House, though no official confirmation backs that claim.

Sleeping at work isn’t nothing new for the genius either. Back in 2018, Elon famously said he was sleeping on the Tesla factory floor during production delays because he “didn’t have time to go home.” Now, he’s bringing that same obsessive approach to Washington. The man just has a lot of passion for every work he does, and he really does so much, for humanity especially.

Blockchain takes over: Elon’s plan to track every federal dollar

Elon is also pitching blockchain as the future of federal spending. According to a report by Bloomberg, Elon wants public blockchain networks to track every government dollar spent, ensuring transparency and preventing fraud.

The plan could revolutionize government finance, but it’s also admittedly kind of risky. Blockchain experiments in corporate America have been hit-or-miss, with some companies abandoning the tech due to high costs and inefficiency.

The idea for using blockchain in government finance reportedly came from a pitch given to Trump’s transition team in December on how decentralized ledgers could secure sensitive data and track spending in real time.

Elon’s team jumped on the opportunity, believing that blockchain could eliminate fraud and abuse in federal programs. But the scale of what D.O.G.E wants to do is massive. Using blockchain to track spending across the U.S. government would dwarf anything tried in the private sector.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) weighed in on Elon’s plan, tweeting that “all governments should track their spending on the blockchain. It’s public money.” Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson also offered his services, suggesting a collaboration between Cardano, Bitcoin, and Midnight to help D.O.G.E.

As Cryptopolitan reported just yesterday, D.O.G.E has inspired a ton of copycats in Texas, with lawmakers there wanting to cut spending too. Now XRP lawyer John Deaton is also calling for the same in Massachusetts after learning that the government is raising taxes yet again.

John is a Republican and he ran for Senate against Bitcoin-hating Democrat, Elizabeth Warren, last year. He lost to her, but has promised that he would never stop fighting. In his post today, he blamed Democrats for making inflation worse with massive spendings.

He said, “Taxes are the Democrats answer to every problem we face in Massachusetts. Here’s an idea: How about we cut unnecessary spending for once?” John added a direct call to Elon saying, “@elonmusk we need a Massachusetts D.O.G.E.”
