Trump: Will impose tariffs on chips, oil, natural gas, steel and other goods
Bitget2025/02/01 07:02
According to foreign media reports, US President Trump said on Friday that the US will impose tariffs on imported goods such as computer chips, drugs, steel, aluminum, copper, oil and natural gas as early as mid-February. Trump added that he also wants to impose tariffs on the European Union, but did not specify the time and rate of the tariffs. The tariffs announced on these industries and the European Union seem to be separate from the 25% tariffs imposed on Canada and Mexico. Trump's proposed tariffs will be imposed on the basis of existing tariffs on these products. White House press secretary Leavitt previously confirmed in a press conference that the Trump administration would impose a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canadian goods starting February 1.
