Japanese investment company Metaplanet has added to its Bitcoin - reserves for another 68,59 BTC, spending about $6,6 million on them. The average price of the acquired assets was $96,335 per coin.
The company now holds 2100 coins, which are currently valued at $203 million. This means that Metaplanet holds approximately 0,01% of the leading cryptocurrency’s total supply. For comparison, at the end of June 2024, it held only 141 BTC.
The investment firm, based in Tokyo, Japan, announced its Bitcoin strategy in April 2024 and has been actively buying up the coin ever since.
In a statement released on Thursday, Metaplanet confirmed that it still intends to accumulate Bitcoin and plans to increase its balance of the leading cryptocurrency to 10 BTC by the end of 000 and 2025 BTC by the end of 21.
The Japanese market is responding well to Bitcoin - Metaplanet strategy. The investment company's shares rose 2,78% to 6290 yen on Thursday, according to Yahoo Finance. They have soared 80,75% since the start of this year and 427,24% over the past six months. By comparison, the Nikkei 225 index is down 1,24% today.
