The former FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, who is currently in prison for 25 years for fraud, has returned to social media unexpectedly. His first tweet since January 2023 on X raised eyebrows, and many people asked, Is SBF actually tweeting from jail?

In his 10-post thread, Bankman-Fried commented on the recent mass layoffs by President Donald Trump’s administration and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk.

1) I have a lot of sympathy for gov’t employees: I, too, have not checked my email for the past few (hundred) days

And I can confirm that being unemployed is a lot less relaxing than it looks

He compared the job cuts to internal mismanagement at FTX, writing, “I have a lot of sympathy for gov’t employees: I, too, have not checked my email for the past few (hundred) days.”

His unexpected return sent FTX’s exchange token (FTT) soaring 29% , jumping from $1.60 to $2.11 before settling at $1.74. However, what really caught attention was how SBF managed to tweet from behind bars.

Two viral tweets added fuel to the fire. One post claimed Bankman-Fried obtained a phone through his cellmate, hip-hop icon Sean “Diddy” Combs, allegedly paying through “favors.”

Another joked that SBF won a fight in jail to earn 12 hours of phone access, which he used to play Clash of Clans, text a mystery contact, and tweet.

Bankman-Fried is currently appealing his case and seeking a pardon from pro-crypto President Trump, who recently pardoned Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht. While decentralized prediction platform Polymarket only gives SBF a 3% chance of being pardoned, his latest online stunt proves he remains a hot topic in the crypto world.

Is SBF really tweeting from jail, or is someone posting on his behalf? The mystery continues.
