Deutsche Telekom unit becomes Injective's 60th validator

Deutsche Telekom MMS, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has become a validator for the Injective (CRYPTO:INJ) blockchain, an interoperable Layer-1 network focused on financial applications.

According to Injective's February 27 announcement, Deutsche Telekom MMS will now participate in on-chain governance and validate transactions, enhancing network security and decentralisation.

Injective CEO Eric Chen stated the company is "thrilled" to have Deutsche Telekom MMS as a validator, highlighting the increasing integration of Web3 technologies into established institutions.

Deutsche Telekom MMS will be staking Injective’s native token (INJ), proposing blocks, validating transactions, ensuring cross-chain interoperability, and voting on governance proposals.

Oliver Nyderle, Head of Web3 Infrastructure at Deutsche Telekom MMS, stated the company aims to "foster true decentralisation" and enhance the network's security.

Deutsche Telekom MMS joins a validator pool that includes Kraken and Binance Staking, becoming Injective's 60th validator.

Injective operates on a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism and is designed for financial applications.

The collaboration strengthens Injective's position as an institutional-grade Layer-1 blockchain for decentralised finance (DeFi).

Deutsche Telekom operates in over 50 countries with subsidiaries like T-Mobile, has a market cap of around $178 billion, and serves 252 million mobile customers worldwide.

Deutsche Telekom MMS has been expanding its presence in the crypto space, becoming a validator for Polygon (CRYPTO:MATIC) in June 2023 and Celo (CRYPTO:CELO) in June 2021.

The company also operates a Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) node since 2023 and began Bitcoin mining in November, utilising surplus energy from renewable sources.

The addition of Deutsche Telekom MMS as a validator highlights the growing involvement of established enterprises in blockchain ecosystems.

At the time of reporting, the Injective (INJ) price was $12.44.
