Elon Musk Announces Extreme Cyberattack on X, Suspicions of State Involvement
- Massive attack suggests state involvement
- X users face continuous outages
- Previous DDoS indicates recurring vulnerabilities
Elon Musk, the visionary CEO of X, stated that its platform is being targeted by an unprecedented cyberattack. According to him, the attack is more complex and coordinated than usual, suggesting the possible involvement of a nation state or a highly funded hacking group.
From early on, X users faced issues accessing the platform. Outages and login failures began to be reported, with the first incidents recorded around 5:30 am Brasília time. The website Downdetector recorded more than 40.000 complaints at the peak of the problem, with additional outages around 9:30 am and 11 am.
There was (still is) a massive cyber attack against 𝕏.
We are attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large and coordinated group and/or a country is involved.

Previous incidents of outages are nothing new for X, including a high-profile outage during a live interview with Trump in August last year. The interview, hosted by Musk, was significantly delayed due to technical issues.
It was later revealed that the platform had suffered a large-scale DDoS attack, resulting in widespread issues that prevented many users from attending the live event. This pattern of attacks raises concerns about cybersecurity at X, especially considering the nature and scale of the current attack.
