Google and OpenAI are urging President Donald Trump's government to relax restrictions on artificial intelligence training, especially in the use of copyrighted materials. Both tech giants submitted policy proposals on Thursday, advocating for a more flexible approach to AI regulation as the U.S. government prepares to develop an "AI Action Plan" by mid-2025.

The proposals submitted by Google and OpenAI are in response to the new focus on AI regulation following President Trump's revocation of the previous government's AI executive order in January 2025. OpenAI and Google believe that relaxing intellectual property barriers is crucial for promoting innovation and maintaining America's leadership in the field of artificial intelligence development.
